Getting Started Checklist#

We encourage you to reach out to the citizen science team early, often and whenever you need! EPO citizen science team can be contacted on Slack, the Community Forum or email clare.higgs@noirlab.edu

Below is a suggestion on how to get started:

  1. Have a great idea for a project and be enthusiastic to welcome public participation!

  2. Explore active and past projects at zooniverse.org/rubin or on Zooniverse in general - get inspired!

  3. Consult the Existing Project Catalog, if a project appears similar to your project, reach out to the Rubin citizen science team or the project team

  4. Check the data policy to understand whether your proposed project is in alignment. Any questions or concerns, reach out the EPO citizen science team

  5. Develop your data sets using the RSP

  6. Use the citizen science notebooks to initialize a project on the Zooniverse or build a project using Zooniverse tools

  7. Trial sending 100 objects from the RSP to your project on the Zooniverse. Your data will be stored in the EDC (Education Data Center)

  8. Contact the EPO citizen science team to lift the 100 object limit and continue development

  9. Finalize your project and continue through to Zooniverse launch
