Vera C. Rubin Observatory Documentation for Citizen Science#
This site provides information about the Vera C. Rubin Observatory’s support for Citizen Science projects. Citizen science, sometimes abbreviated as CitSci, provides the opportunity for the public to participate in cutting-edge research while also providing a unique and valuable method for analyzing Rubin data for researchers. Rubin works in partnership with the Zooniverse to support members of the science community to build successful projects.
The public’s excitement, interest, and time are valuable resources to all Rubin based citizen science projects. This guide aims to respect the public’s time and interest. Thank you to citizen science project leads for your efforts to adhere to the best practices and guidelines; Rubin Observatory supports you in giving back to the public at large as you share Rubin Observatory with the world.

Also included is a description of the rubin.citsci package, which includes the workhorse tools for citizen science with Rubin.
These notebooks will be included in the RSP Tutorials after Data Preview 2 (DP2) release. The notebooks will continue to be available as documented here, but please consult the Tutorials for the most current version.
